지비이노베이션은 경상북도 울진 쌍전광산의 광업권을 보유한 광산 자원개발 기업으로, 국내 2위 규모의 텅스텐 광산 개발 및 생산을 주요 사업으로 하고 있습니다.
1970~80년대 제한적으로 채굴되었던 쌍전광산을 최신 설비와 기술로 재개발해, 고품위 텅스텐을 안정적으로 공급하는 것을 목표로 하고 있습니다.
쌍전광산의 확인된 원광 매장량은 310만 톤 이상에 달하며, 원광 품위가 세계 평균 대비 2배를 넘는 0.46%에 육박해 국제적으로도 경쟁력 있는 자원입니다.
이를 바탕으로 반도체, 2차전지, 첨단소재, 에너지, 우주항공 등 다양한 첨단 산업의 핵심 전략자원 수급 안정에 기여하고 있습니다.
또한, 장기적으로는 텅스텐의 정제련에서 최종 소재화까지 아우르는 밸류체인 구축을 목표로 하고 있습니다.

GB Innovation is a mining resource development company holding the mining rights to the Ssangjeon Mine in Uljin, Gyeongsangbuk-do, with its primary business being the development and production of South Korea’s second-largest tungsten mine.
The Ssangjeon Mine, which was mined on a limited scale during the 1970s and 1980s, is being redeveloped with state-of-the-art facilities and technology to stably supply high-grade tungsten.
The confirmed ore reserves of the Ssangjeon Mine exceed 3.1 million tons, with an ore grade approaching 0.46%, more than twice the global average, making it a globally competitive resource.
Based on this, GB Innovation contributes to the stable supply of critical strategic resources for various high-tech industries, including semiconductors, secondary batteries, advanced materials, energy, and aerospace.
Furthermore, in the long term, the company aims to build a value chain encompassing tungsten refining to final material production.

글로벌 전략
지비이노베이션(GBI)은 타지키스탄 최대 기업 TALCO와 협력하여 세계 최고 품질(평균 품위 0.95%)의 마이쿠라 광산 개발을 추진합니다. 추정 매장량 192만 톤 이상의 중앙아시아 최대 텅스텐 광산을 활용, 연간 1,400톤의 텅스텐 정광 생산을 목표로 합니다.
GBI는 한국 쌍전광산의 연간 800톤 생산에 마이쿠라 광산의 생산력을 더해 글로벌 공급망을 강화합니다.
또한, 타지키스탄에 텅스텐 중간재 생산 밸류체인을 구축하여 국내외 반도체 및 방산 기업에 안정적인 공급을 보장할 계획입니다.
이는 2025년 2월 7일 시행된 자원안보특별법에 맞춰 중국(텅스텐 산화물 수입 의존도 93%) 중심의 자원 의존도를 줄이고, 자원빈국인 대한민국의 독자적 자원 확보를 실현하는 전략입니다.
이번 프로젝트는 타지키스탄의 미개발 자원 잠재력을 활용, GBI를 글로벌 텅스텐 시장의 핵심 플레이어로 자리매김하게 할 것입니다.
GBI는 자원 무기화 패권에서 벗어나 지속 가능한 자원 독립과 글로벌 경쟁력을 확보할 것입니다.
GB Innovation (GBI), in collaboration with Tajikistan’s largest company, TALCO, is advancing the development of the Maikura Mine, which boasts the world’s highest quality (average grade of 0.95%). Utilizing Central Asia’s largest tungsten mine with estimated reserves exceeding 1.92 million tons, GBI aims to produce 1,400 tons of tungsten concentrate annually.
GBI strengthens the global supply chain by combining the 800-ton annual production from South Korea’s Ssangjeon Mine with the output from the Maikura Mine. Additionally, GBI plans to establish a value chain for tungsten intermediate production in Tajikistan, ensuring stable supply for domestic and international semiconductor and defense companies.
This is a strategy to reduce dependence on China (93% dependence on tungsten oxide imports) in line with the Special Act on Resource Security enacted on February 7, 2025, and to secure independent resources for South Korea, which is a resource-poor country.
The project leverages Tajikistan’s untapped resource potential, positioning GBI as a key player in the global tungsten market. GBI will break free from resource weaponization hegemony, achieving sustainable resource independence and global competitiveness.
